Planning Information and Technology (PIT) Department

The Planning Information and Technology (PIT) Department plays a crucial role in supporting NBRRI's operations and research activities by leveraging technology and information management.

Mandate of the Department

The Planning and Information Technology (PIT) Department is one of the nine functional Departments in NBRRI. The Department is charged with overseeing issues related to Planning, Budgeting and Information in the Institute. Here's a breakdown of the core mandates that guide the PIT Department's work:

  • Budget Preparation: The Department prepares the Institute’s Budget and follows up its implementation in line with the set spending items, along with correcting any deviations that could occur during its implementation.
  • Developing NBRRI's strategic IT plan: The PIT Department plays a vital role in developing a comprehensive IT plan aligned with NBRRI's overall research and strategic goals. This plan identifies current and future IT needs for research activities, administrative functions, and knowledge dissemination.
  • Data management and security: The PIT Department oversees the development and implementation of robust data management policies and security protocols. This ensures the integrity and confidentiality of NBRRI's sensitive research data and information systems.
  • Strategic Plan/Road Map: The Department is also responsible for drawing a plan that will guide the implementation of the Institute’s set target/goals over a specific period of time.
  • Work Plan: Formulates plans and ensures execution and implementation of such plans by the Institute.
  • The Department also coordinates and conducts monitoring and evaluation exercise of the Institute’s Capital Projects.
  • Coordinates and Prepares the Institute’s Annual Report.
  • Efficiently design and maintains all Information Technology infrastructure in the Institute.
  • The Department also coordinates all activities of the Library and Public Relation Units.
  • Maintaining network infrastructure and security: The PIT Department ensures the smooth operation and security of NBRRI's network infrastructure, including servers, workstations, and internet connectivity. This allows for reliable and secure access to data and resources.

Division and Sections

The Department is made up of two Divisions. These are: Planning and Budget Division and Information and Computer Services Division. Each of the Division is made up of Sections
